Environment and sustainability: Learning of different practices employed to reduce waste, recycle nutrients in both home and farming practice
Wildlife: exploring the different ecosystems in Saskatchewan and the diversity of different wild animals in the region (e.g. talking to coyotes, raptor watching)
Camping skills and survival: Learning about camp safety, how to build a survival kit, winter/summer safety.
Farming practices: Learning how to take care of crops. One approach is to have the children plant their own vegetables in the spring time and then return in the fall to collect their produce (tomatoes, potatoes, pumpkins etc...). During the summer, families are welcome to take care of their produce. However we will be looking after them if they can not. In the fall the families would come back again to harvest.
Animal Care: Learning how to care for animals both at the farm and at home. At Fenek Farms we have everything from rabbits, to hens, to geese.
Natural crafts: Using natural resources to create your own crafts.
Astronomy: Learning about space, stars and galaxies. Usually a night time event (starts 1 hour after sunset). On site telescope set up.

What does Fenek Farms mean?
My heritage is that of a small Mediterranean island called Malta. Although Saskatchewan has a different growing climate, the warm plentiful sunshine is similar to the Maltese Isles. Also both Malta and Saskatchewan have a very robust agricultural community. Josef's (Joe) family are both cash crop farmers and sheep/goat herders back home on the islands.
